Super foods for your Skin and Hair

India is a bountiful country and our Vedas have always been a great source of information. Ayurveda today is considered an exact science and the West borrows heavily from it. From glowing skin to healthy hair, from improved digestion to increased lifespan, ancient Ayurveda has the secrets to uncover everything. We’re giving you a lowdown on seven Indian superfoods that will give you luscious hair, radiant skin and great health.

1 Turmeric:
Though it may be a relatively new skin treatment in the Western world, turmeric has racked up centuries of street cred as an Indian health treatment for a number of skin and body issues. From flu to sore throat, swollen ankles or recovery from an injury – turmeric milk is an elixir of life in every Indian household. It has anti-inflammatory properties that curb swelling. It also has anti-bacterial properties that help decrease acne-causing bacteria.

2. Amla or Indian gooseberry:
Amla or Indian gooseberries are a great source of Vitamin C. In fact, Indian gooseberries have more Vitamin C than oranges. As we all know, Vitamin C helps brighten dull skin. Amlas have also long been used in hair masks for centuries in India.

3. Coconut Oil:
Coconut oil is one of the most popular health and beauty products on the market. It can be used for your hair or skin, or even ingested, and is often regarded for its positive medicinal properties. From scars to dryness, weight loss to internal detox, coconut oil is extremely versatile and easy to incorporate in your day to day life. Coconut oil also has a great impact on stretch marks.

4. Jamun, Indian blackberry:
Jamun or Black plum is an important summer fruit, associated with many health and medicinal benefits. Jamun seeds are the best remedy to treat acne. For this, grind some dry Jamun seeds and add some cow milk to it. Jamun can also work wonders for people with oily skin because of its astringent properties. Prepare a face mask using Jamun pulp, barley flour, amla juice, and rose water.

5 Yogurt:
Yogurt is packed with multi-vitamins that are beneficial for your skin, hair, and nails. In fact, you can get more calcium -which is good for your posture, nails, and teeth – from one cup of low-fat yogurt than a cup of fat-free milk. Yogurt is also blessed with zinc and lactic acid which helps reduce fine lines, promote glowing skin, and removes dandruff and itchy scalp.

With these superfoods and proper organic skincare products, you’ll be able to attain that glowing skin.
